Visitation was held Friday, December 16, 2022 at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. for Coalgate resident, Joe Nichols. Joe passed away December 14, 2022 at Coalgate at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 7 day. He was born February 7, 1937 to Henry Nichols and Elsie May (Lane) Jameson at Stringtown, OK. Joe served 4 years in the US Navy from 1955 to 1959. He married Dovie Bryant July 30, 1965 at Midwest City, OK. They were married 57 years. Joe worked in bridge construction, was a pipeliner, welder and a logger. He was a member of the Pipeline Union. He loved to hunt, fish and spend time in the woods watching the animals. Joe enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. He loved to watch football and play cards and dominoes with his family and friends on the holidays.

Survivors include his wife, Dovie Nichols of the home in Coalgate; daughter, Sandra Harris and husband Bryan of Norman, OK; son Joseph Nichols of Coalgate; grandchildren, Sarisa Cunningham and husband Shawn of Coalgate, Shelton Nichols and Sara Shockey of Wardville, OK, Jacob Harris and wife Shelby of Lexington, OK and Dalton Harris and wife Autum of Norman, OK; great-grandchildren, Josie and Jacklyn Cunningham, Ruger, Kimber and Raven Harris and Iris Moran; sister, Diana Willis and husband Bill of Picacho, AZ; brother, Walter Nichols and wife Percey of Tulsa, OK.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Nichols; mother, Elsie Jameson; brothers, Buck Nichols, Sam Nichols, Bill Nichols and Johnny Nichols; sisters, Mary Dority, Jesse Ann Nichols, Marie Tuck and Evie Casey; and brotherin- law, Paul Case.
