Service held for Alba Jean Jinkins

Funeral services for Alba Jean Jinkins, an Ada resident, were held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Pastor Lyle Shipley officiating. Burial was in Coalgate Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jinkins was born January 5, 1926 to Noel and Eva (Karr) Powell at Ash Flat (Coal County), OK and passed away August 30, 2020 at Ada, OK at the age of 94 years, 7 months and 25 days. She attended elementary school at Nixon, Coalgate High School and graduated from Olney High School. Jean married Paul Phillip Jinkins in Ada, OK on October 24, 1952. He preceded her in death May 6, 1999. Jean worked for the Western Union, McAlester Ammunition Depot and retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after 37 1/2 years. She was a member of the Independent Baptist Church and Eastern Star in Corpus Christi, TX, lifetime member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary and lifetime member of AT&T Pioneers. Jean was a strong supporter of the Shriners Children’s Hospital, Veteran’s First and the St. Labre Indian School. She spent her younger years helping the elderly and her church and was a very giving person.

Survivors include her sister, Pauline Guinn of Corpus Christs, TX; brother, John L. Powell of Coalgate, OK; brother-in-law, Allen Jinkins of Oklahoma City; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Mary Fullingin and husband Leroy and Mona Lay; brothers, Warren Powell and wife Jimmie, Raymond Powell and wife Loann and Floyd Powell; and sister-in-law, Becky (Scott) Powell.

Casketbearers were David Battles, Don Battles, Jerry Battles, Dwayne Miles, Shane Sallee, Jimmy Lampkin and Richard Powell.
