Service held for Joy Bell Cummins

Funeral services for Joy Bell Cummins, a Coalgate resident, were held Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Mark Eaton officiating. Burial was in Coalgate Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Joy was born September 15, 1957 to Ray Leon and Lydia Bell (Cook) Cummins at Coalgate, OK and passed away May 26, 2020 at Coalgate at the age of 62 years, 8 months and 11 days. She attended Coalgate Schools, graduating in 1976. Joy was a custodian for Cottonwood School for 10 years. She loved her family and helped raise her nieces and nephews and loved them as her own. Joy loved her mama so much, she never left home and devoted her life to taking care of her. She was a wonderful caregiver, for all of her family. Joy ventured into several aspects of life including exercise, cooking and ancestry. She enjoyed life to the fullest and life enjoyed her. Joy will be dearly missed by all that knew her.

Survivors include her sisters, Kay Collins of Coalgate, Glenda Fisher and husband Leroy of Byars, OK, Gloria Welch and husband Bill of Coalgate, Cherie Richardson and husband Kenny of Lead Hill, AR, Rita Taylor and husband Frank of Hennepin, IL, and Newanna Dennett and husband Lloyd of Harrison, AR; brother, Norman Cummins of Eufaula, OK; along with several nieces, nephews and dearly loved family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dale Cummins; great-niece, Sadie Berlin; great-nephew, Daxton Cioni; and brother-in-law, Harold Collins.

Casketbearers were Kevin Milam, Lee Fisher, Jeremy Cummins, Jacob Cummins, Adam Cioni, and James Roebuck. Honorary bearers were Justin Richardson, Ben Cummins, Josh Richardson, Leroy Fisher, Lloyd Dennett, Kenny Richardson, Chayse Roebuck, Bill Welch, Davin Cioni and Christian Welch.
