Service today for Roy Shoemake

Roy Price Shoemake passed away peacefully in his sleep at home and surrounded by loved ones on May 27, 2022. He was born on September 11, 1937 in Lehigh, Oklahoma and graduated from Coalgate High School in 1956. He was the patriarch of his large and loving family and will be deeply missed.

Roy was a member of Valley View Church of Christ and worked for over 30 years at Carco International. His best days were spent going on camping trips with Linda, riding his horse, Velvet, on the trails of Cedar Lake with his family, and fishing on his boat.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Linda Stubblefield Shoemake; his five children, Barry Shoemake, Kim Slaten (husband Patrick), Don Shoemake (wife Cheryl), Tammy Stout, and Rachele King (husband Stephen); his sisters, Karen Shoemake and Sharon Phillips (husband Charles); his brothers, Vernon Shoemake (wife Donna), Ronnie Shoemake, and Larry Shoemake; his twelve grandchildren; and his seventeen great-grandchildren.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Pauline Shoemake; his sister Barbara Allen (husband Bobby); his son-in-law Richard Stout, and his granddaughter, Julieanna Gibson.

A celebration of Roy’s life will be at Valley View Church of Christ in Greenwood on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. A visitation was held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., at Evan & Miller Funeral Home in Pocola. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roy’s honor to Manes & Miracles (www.manesandmiracles. org).

Pallbearers are Roy’s grandsons, William Gibson and Evan Gibson, and his grandsons-in-law, Russell Moore, Chase Rackley, William Buckley, Logan Garner, Jeff Gould, and Brett Bottoms. Honorary pallbearers are Roy’s dear friends AZ Hudson, Bill Hunt, Garry Pack, Jack Bowen, and Jim Emberson.
