Lyman Jean Leister died on November 26, 2024 in Torrance, CA, at the age of 82. Born to Dovie (Wilson) Leister and Paul Byron Leister in Ada, OK. Lyman moved to California when he was 13 and graduated from North Torrance High. Drafted into the Army in 1965, he served in Viet Nam. He retired from Northrop Grumman. Known as “Coop”, in the Single Action Shooting Society, and won many competitions in California and the greater southwest.

Funeral services for Velma Lou Hobgood, a Lehigh resident, will be held Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Colton Lott officiating. Family night will be Wednesday evening 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brown’s Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate.

A Memorial service for Naomi Faye Gooding will be held Friday, January 10, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Crystal Cemetery in Crystal, OK with Scott Ridgway and Judy Chastain officiating. The Coalgate HOF Board today released the Elite 8 selections for the 2025 Athletic Hall of Fame. This group was chosen from a list of 22 finalists. The final vote will be tabulated in mid-January to name the prestigious class of 2025. Five finalists will be selected for enshrinement from this outstanding class list of candidates.
