Fast Tracking on Sandy Bend UpdatedThey don’t make creeks like they used to. I speak of Buck Creek. To narrow the search for the creek I am speaking of I direct your attention to the county road between Stonewall and Owl Creek.

Having had a lot of dental work done over the years, I really enjoyed and appreciated the following article written by Jim Mullen. I just spent two hours in a dentist’s chair having a crown replaced. It wasn’t all the fun it’s cracked up to be.

Getting OlderI spoke (wrote) to a pair of old timers this morning and it reminded me to write a smidgen for this week’s “One Pharmacist’s View.” Chesley (Tiny) Ray, Corky’s younger brother, was the first. Tiny is recovering from a heart procedure and is doing OK — so he says.

Every time I turn on the news it seems they are talking about the price of gasoline. Yet, I see youngsters driving $100,000 pickups and families driving $100,000 cars. When I was a youngster, gas was around .20¢ a gallon. The sad thing is I didn’t have .

My Future? Where did you go?As an “old guy”, I sometimes live in the past. Just the other day I sat in my den watching TV. On TV was some kind of story about how much better it will be in the future. It reminded me of a “short subject” I saw one night inside the Main Theatre over at Stonewall.

May is a busy month with Mother’s day, graduations and Memorial day weekend activities. Hopefully these occasions have presented or are presenting you with opportunities to connect with friends and family. Too often our connection time with people is at the funeral home.

This month our high school class will celebrate our 61st anniversary. The following article made me think of what some of us from ’65 would write about the past 58 years. Here is a review from another school “Through the Years.

Coco The OrphanI once read a story about a little French orphan girl named “Coco”. I didn’t think I had ever heard of “Coco” but it was her nickname. She was born back in 1883. And besides that, she was a girl who was raised by nuns.

It’s April again. I was still sort of waiting for April to get here and all of a sudden, I realize it came upon us so fast that its nearly gone already. April has always been sort of special to me. It means the dreaded winter, and unlikeable March has come and gone.
