Memorial Day 2013 — In a different time and country, this used to be Decoration Day, when the graves of the fallen were tended, blue and gray, alike in one nation once again indivisible. Now it’s called Memorial Day – another three-day weekend, the official kickoff of summer.

Some of you may know that I went traveling this past weekend — up to St Louis ’s Missouri. It’s a long trip up I-44 and back, but I made it. Due to my old age, I took my personal doctor, Ron, and my private nurse, Pat, with me. It was a hard trip but worth it.

Caitlin Clark will do great in the WNBA. She can shoot, she can pass and she’s a savvy player.Clark did what no one ever dreamed anyone would do and that was to score more points than Pistol Pete Maravich who played for LSU from 1967 – 1970. Maravich scored 3667 total points at LSU and averaged 42.

A long time ago — well one week ago — the much heralded “North American Eclipse” came to Allen. Weather forecasters happily forecasted that we probably wouldn’t be able to see it anyway. Clouds they said. I watched all this with a sort of wishy-washy attitude.
