CHRISTMAS WEEK! We have enjoyed some very interesting letters to Santa, Christmas memories and other Christmas items from area youngsters. They are all so interesting and fun to read. However, at the top of the list is the subject of Angels when explained by Children . . .1.

It was December 25, 1776, and destiny was in the making. We were at war for our freedom from the British. The cities were in the hands of the British . . . only the woods, the snow, and cold were ours.On that night, the town of Trenton, New Jersey, was ablaze with light.

America Descending to HellAn America, which once proposed to Glorify God, and promote His Word around the World, is now descending to the depths of Hell. One can see that every single day, including yesterday’s Supreme Court arguments, questions, and answers concerning abortion.

Congratulations to our own Wanda Utterback for being honored by the Chamber of Commerce at Friday evening’s Christmas Tree Lighting, where she helped Santa do the honor of lighting the tree.Wanda is a great asset to this community and we really appreciate all she does.

December is a month that brings back a lot of memories. In the days before Wal-Mart and Amazon our downtown was thriving. It was fun to go to town to shop and see your friends. I not only remember the lay-away plan, I used it.So, time moves on, and so do we and nothings stays the same.

When my Mom was alive my children would often quiz her about mistakes I made when I was their age. “Tell us about some of the bad stuff dad did when he was a kid” they’d ask. Mom usually tilted her head, smiled and said, “He really never did anything wrong. He was always a good boy.

Thanksgiving? Here again? It’s almost stylish these days to say: “Thankful for what?” Well, let’s just look back a bit. One in particular noteworthy year in my life was 1963. Fresh out of college and my military service behind me, things never looked any better.

I love this time of year. Most of us have so much to be thankful for. I really enjoy getting together with the family (most of them). Thanksgiving also brings back a lot of memories. As a child we would all gather at my grandparents where my grandmother had prepared a feast.
