Christmas is the greatest time of the year. In 1938 my parents moved us (Mom, Dad, Gerald, and me) from Allen to a town called Centrahoma. There I met Letha Mae. It was there I started paying attention to Christmas.

Christmas is over and even during these challenging economic times, a recent report reveals that a record amount of money was spent on toys this year. Color TVs and computers also had a banner year.

Some people don’t like winter Some people think it’s too cold I think they just like to complain Or maybe they’re just too old. I like bundling up In coats with boots on my feet. I like to see my breath fog up In the rain, or snow, or sleet.

Every family approaches Christmas lists a little differently. Some families never make lists and whatever presents are received on Christmas morning it’s a surprise (and often returned!).

An elderly man in Oklahoma calls his son in New Yok City and says, “I hate to ruin your day, son, but I have to tell you that your mother and I are getting a divorce. 45 years of marriage…and that much misery is enough! “Dad, what are you talking about?” the son yells.

Funeral services for Crystal Lynn Batchelor, a Coalgate resident, were held Monday, December 21, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Tupelo Church of Christ with Wendel Ingram officiating. Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate and Brown’s Durant Funeral Cremation Service were in charge of arrangements.
