Letter to the Editor

Dear Sir: I have had many opinion pieces in different newspapers and have had feed back from many people who agreed with me, mostly, but I finally received my first rebuttal. That’s OK, because we still have freedom of speech under the Constitution.

I did fairly good on memory stuff until I got to be about 80. Then I noticed it was hard for me to remember some people’s names. Names of some trees also come to mind.

The typical U.S. household headed by a person age 65 or older has a net worth 47 times greater than a household headed by someone under 35, according to an analysis of census data released Monday. You read it right, 47 times!!!

I do not know just how this is all going to work out. I saw the “Mighty Mustangs” on the cover of the Advocate last week. They looked capable but I must admit I didn’t recognize many of them. Well a few perhaps.

A Veteran’s Plea:

I am a former Army Ranger. After two tours of Vietnam, I can attest to all that we sacrificed. We lost friends and families. We lost limbs. We lost years of our carefree youth. In many cases, we lost the ability ever again to feel completely safe and whole. We lost our innocence.

September is National Preparedness Month

When disasters or emergencies arise, individuals can face uncertainty. The Choctaw Nation Office of Emergency Management is encouraging all tribal and community members to prepare with resources provided by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security through the Ready.gov website.
