HAPPY WINNER! Leslie Rains was the winner of Subway gift certificates given as the prize for finding the baby in the King Cake at the 2025 Coal County Chamber of Commerce banquet. Leslie is a member of the Coalgate High School Jazz Band that performed at the banquet.

Tyler Cole Frizzell, a former agriculture teacher at Tupelo Public School, turned himself in Thursday, April 10, following a warrant that was issued for his arrest in connection with child sex crimes committed in 2024.

by Tim Howell Band Director The Pride of Coalgate Concert Band qualified for state band contest by earning a Superior Rating on stage and in sightreading on March 4, 2025. The band has not qualified for state band contest since 1963 which was 62 years ago. This is a huge accomplishment for the band!

Sunday, April 19, marks the 30th anniversary of the bombing of the Alfred R. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. The 1995 bombing killed 168 people, including 19 children, and injured hundreds more in what was then the deadliest terrorist attack on U.S. soil.

The 2025 Coalgate Alumni/Athletic Hall of Fame banquet ticket drive will begin on Monday, April 21st. Tickets may be purchased at the superintendent’s office Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon - 3:00 p.m., and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m.
