Mr. Jerry Wayne Canida passed from this life on February 21, 2019, at the age of 72 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Wayne was born on December 31, 1946, in Tupelo, Oklahoma, to his parents Burl and Lorene Canida.

Services for Shirley Ann (Boston) Page, a Clarita, OK resident, formerly of Atoka County, will be held March 1, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Atoka. Family night is Thursday 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services for Annette “Ann” (Boone) Stowe Johnson, a longtime Atoka, OK resident, will be held Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Atoka with Bro. John Howard officiating.

Jesse Marvin (J.M.) Gaskin, founding member of the Oklahoma Baptist Historical Society—an auxiliary of the Oklahoma Baptist Historical Commission—and Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma (BGCO) historical secretary for 45 years (1953-1998), passed away at the age of 101 Jan.

Funeral services for Betty Massey are scheduled for Friday, February 22, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate. Ms. Massey was born March 26, 1930 and passed away February 17, 2019 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 89. (There will be a full obituary in next weeks edition of the paper.)

Services for William Nelson McKinney, Jr. a Coalgate resident, will be held Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coal-gate with Pastor Delbert White officiating. Visitation will be Friday 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Duard Austin Brooks, beloved husband, Daddy and Papa, 81, went home to Heaven on January 16, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer. Duard was born in Calvin, OK on January 31, 1937, to Thomas Franklin Brooks and Eula Stanfill Brooks.
