Nothing To See Here Folks Last week was when a big political rally for Trump went awry. Or was that Trump that went awry? Sedition? Coup? Who did this? Blame who you want, it looks like it is time to pay the bill.

Christmas is the greatest time of the year. In 1938 my parents moved us (Mom, Dad, Gerald, and me) from Allen to a town called Centrahoma. There I met Letha Mae. It was there I started paying attention to Christmas.

My mom had a twin. Not identical but they were a lot alike in looks and in their ways. I always liked coming over and visiting the twin’s family, especially those many years ago when they lived here at Allen. They had two boys (among their many assorted children) about my age.

And so there is. In the Bible, the book of Ecclesiastes, a famous King and familiar Bible character, King Solomon, wrote a book on philosophy. You can read a lot of different ideas into this book in the Old Testament. But the most familiar thing is that word time.

My knowledge of stagecoaches is from watching those old black and white movies of the 40’s.

I did fairly good on memory stuff until I got to be about 80. Then I noticed it was hard for me to remember some people’s names. Names of some trees also come to mind.

I do not know just how this is all going to work out. I saw the “Mighty Mustangs” on the cover of the Advocate last week. They looked capable but I must admit I didn’t recognize many of them. Well a few perhaps.

Time is a tough thing to ponder. It is here. It passes and we wonder where it went. Celebrating my 62nd wedding anniversary this week makes we wonder where all those years went too. In my 85 th year of living it seems like just a few minutes have gone by. The Bible speaks about time.

“People” sometimes ask me to write more about Allen’s olden history. There was no Allen newspapers in 1834 but according to a Historical Marker about 3.6 miles West of Allen on SHW 1 there was something going on here. A large group of Osage Indians were camped out in those flats.

Allen has a long and colorful history. The earlier Cold Springs name came long ago when settlers heading west passed through this area on their way to (where else?) further out west. Many stopped here because of the cold springs. Some simply stayed a bit, camping on the river.
