The Coalgate Wildcats lost a tough game to kick off the 2019 season Friday night at Donald Mike Mayer Field. However, one bright spot was the defensive effort during the zero week match-up. “The defense played real well,” said head coach Nathan Hill.

The Coalgate Wildcats football team is gearing up for a new season, and held its annual media day Saturday. The event, held at Donald Mike Mayer Field, allows news organizations to photograph the players and learn more about the team. Leading the helm is new head coach, Nathan Hill.

Seventeen-year-old Taitum Thomas of Coalgate now holds the title of “NHSFR Goat Tying World Champion.” Taitum and hundreds of other young rodeo athletes competed in the 2019 National High School Finals Rodeo (NHSFR) July 14-20 at Rock Springs, WY.

The Ada Wood Ducks are competing in the OK Kids State Tournament in Clinton after garnering the runner-up title at the Regional 5 Coach Pitch Tournament in Coalgate. The team includes kids from Ada and Coalgate.

The OK Kids Regional 5 Coach Pitch Tournament wrapped up July 6 in Coalgate with two local teams going to State. Atoka Elite (above), which includes kids from Atoka and Coalgate, won the championship title. The Ada Wood Ducks, which includes kids from Ada and Coalgate, won runner-up.

The Coalgate A’s 10U Pee-Wee Baseball team went undefeated in the OK Kids Regional Tournament held in Stroud, OK July 1-6.
