Monday night’s College Football National Championship certainly had its share of exciting moments. But it was the players’ glorification of Jesus Christ that took center stage.

The Coalgate Wildcats capped off their season with a thrilling victory over the Tishomingo Indians, defeating them 50-26. This final win allowed the Wildcats to finish their season at an even 5-5, showcasing their growth and potential as they look ahead to next year.

Chay Homer Barnett is the son of Brandy and Shad Barnett and the grandson of Don Battles of Coalgate, Kathy Battles of Holdenville, and Paula Powell of Lehigh. He has three siblings: Chet, Chellye, and Chap Barnett, all of Coalgate.

The Coalgate Wildcats fought hard but came up short in a tough matchup against Beggs last Friday night, bringing their season record to an even 4-4. Despite a rally in the fourth quarter, the Wildcats couldn’t quite close the gap for a comeback.

The Coalgate Wildcats faced a tough challenge over Fall Break, falling 18-56 to the 6th-ranked Davis Wolves. The loss comes as the Wildcats continue their season in Class 2A-II against some of the state’s top football teams.
