Alma Rogers

Funeral services for Alma Susanna (Farquhar) Rogers, a longtime Coalgate resident, will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Lloyd McElhaney and Charles Collett officiating. Burial will be in Coalgate Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate.

Mrs. Rogers was born March 28, 1920, to Urbie Houston and Nellie Hatton (Sears) Farquhar at Stonewall, OK, and passed away March 15, 2019, at Coalgate, OK, at the age of 98 years, 11 months and 15 days.

Alma attended school at Lula, OK, and married Walter Rogers on May 16, 1937, at Atoka, OK. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1994.

She was a housewife and enjoyed needlework, sewing and traveling. She won several blue ribbons on her cross-stitch pieces at the Coal County Fair. She was a member of Coalgate Church of Christ.

Mrs. Rogers’ survivors include daughter Wanda Utterback of Coalgate, daughter Glenda Smedley of Tulsa, OK, and special friend Leon Dawes of Jenks, OK; son Jerry Rogers of Tulsa, son Jimmy Rogers and wife Freda of Coalgate, son Dennis Rogers and wife Charlotte of Beggs, OK; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 50-plus great-great- and great-great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and dearly loved family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Urbie Houston and Nellie Hatton (Sears) Farquhar; husband, Walter Rogers; daughter, Wilma Mc-Cosar; grandsons, Tony Rogers and Jerry Justin Rogers; great-grandson, Cyrus McCosar; brother, Tom Farquhar; and sisters, Ocie Ketcherside, Johnnie Rodgers, Bertha Ketcherside, Jewel Moyto, and Sylvia Harrell.

Casketbearers will be Jimmy Lamoureux, Darrell Smedley, Lance Smedley, Craig Smedley, Brian Rogers, Wayne Rogers and Jason Tillery.

Honorary casketbearers will be Allan Rogers, Jeff Lamoureux, David Lamoureux, Brogan Smedley, Landon Smedley, and James Millikin.
