Funeral services for Barbara Gail (Smith) Burns, a Coalgate resident, were held Tuesday, November 2, 2020 at Cornerstone Praise and Worship Center in Coalgate with Pastor David Unsell officiating. Burial was in Coalgate Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Burns was born June 2, 1953 to James and Billie Opalee (Maylen) Smith at Venetia, CA and passed away October 29, 2020 at her home in Coalgate surrounded by her family. She was 67 years, 4 months and 27 days of age. Gail attended and graduated from Coalgate High School in 1972. She was a seamstress at Wrangler for many years and retired in 2003. Gail married Bob Burns December 14, 1973 in Coalgate and they celebrated 46 wonderful years together. Gail was a faithful member of the Cornerstone Praise and Worship Center. She was a Girl Scout leader and enjoyed cake decorating.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby Ray Burns, Jr. of Coalgate; son James Michael Burns and wife Lori Dawn of Coalgate; daughters, Karie Ellen Stepp and husband Rance of Madill, OK and Kathryn Elaine Setzer and husband Brandon of Lawton, OK; grandchildren, James McCoy Burns, Maylin Erin Burns, both of Coalgate, Alexandria Raye Stepp of Madill and Marcus Tiberius Setzer of Lawton; sister-in-law, Grace Heiskill of Sulphur, OK; nieces, Megan Heiskill and Anna Taylor, both of Sulphur, OK.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Wesley and Billie Opalee (Maylen) Smith; father and mother-in-law, Bobby Ray Burns, Sr. and Lillian Burns; sister-in-law, Norma Burns and brother-in-law Hank Heiskill.

Casketbearers were Michael Hensley, Tommy Cosper, Steve Byrd, Rance Stepp, Marvin Tarron and Ray Farmer. Honorary bearers were Wesley Eddings, Glenn Glass and David Ward.
