Betty Jean (Cross) Massey

Funeral services for Betty Jean (Cross) Massey, a Centrahoma resident, were held Friday, February 22, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Mr. Joey Lansdale officiating. Burial was in Byrd’s Prairie Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Massey was born March 26, 1930 to Edgar and Stella (Sweat) Cross at Tupelo, OK and passed away February 17, 2019 at Tulsa, OK at the age of 88 years 10 months and 22 days. She attended Lone Oak School and graduated in 1947 from Tupelo High School and later attended

ECU. On June 2, 1949 she married Roy Leon Massey in Ada, OK. He preceded her in death on June 9, 1984. Betty worked at the Army Ammunition Plant in Savanna, OK and many years at the sewing plant, Elsings Industry in Eufaula. She retired in 1988, but continued working the family farm. Betty was affiliated with Lighthouse Christian Church of Eufaula, OK and Gospel Lighthouse Pentecostal in Centrahoma, OK. She enjoyed church, sewing and gardening.

Survivors include her daughters, Marsha Gibbany, Patti Massey both of Tulsa and Rhonda Smith and Ronald Chisholm of Centrahoma; sister, Bobby Norfleet of Centrahoma; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; nephew, Raylon and wife Cathy Norfleet of Centrahoma, OK.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Roger Massey and Larry Massey; grandson, Billy Massey; brother, Jr. Cross; nephew, David Norfleet; and brother-in-law, Leon Norfleet.

Casketbearers were Aaron Coronado, Adrian Gibbany, Tyson Tiger, Tyler Tiger, Chance King, and Brandon Coronado. Honorary bearers were Matthew Massey, Eddie Massey, Genero Coronado, Ray Norfleet, Ronald Chisholm, Dakota Chisholm and Genero Coronado, Jr.
