Graveside services for Betty Lou (Matthews) Collins, an Ardmore resident, will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Centrahoma Cemetery in Centrahoma, OK with Pastor Lyle Shipley officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate.

Ms. Collins was born September 10, 1939 to Oscar Hugh and Josephine (Roberts) Matthews at Talihina, OK and passedawayApril28,2023 at Ardmore, OK at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 18 days. She graduated from Centrahoma High School as Co-Salutatorian with her twin sister Billie. Betty was the forward for the Centrahoma Bulldogs basketball team. She married Miller Durrett Collins January 9, 1960 at the First Baptist Church in Sulphur, OK. They were blessed with 64 wonderful years together. Betty was a housewife and was a member of the Coalgate and Clarita Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, raising chickens, cooking, sewing and quilting. Her favorite times were spent with her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Miller Durrett Collins of the home in Ardmore, OK; grand-daughters, Marissa Tilghman and husband Jock of Ft. Worth, TX and Nicole Collins of Midwest City, OK; greatgrandsons, Kace and Boston Tilghman; twin sister Billie Lou Jones of Waco, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parent, Oscar Hugh and Josephine (Roberts) Matthews; children, Jerry Hugh Collins and Twana Lynn Collins Becker; siblings, Juanita, John, Percy Leroy “P.L.”, Jack and Peggy.
