Funeral service to be held for Carolyn Lynn Paxton

Funeral services for Carolyn Lynn Paxton, age 73, an Allen, TX resident, will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Rev. Spencer Hughes and Pastor Kelly Clark officiating. Family night will be Friday 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.. Burial will be in Lehigh Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Paxton was born July 9, 1952 to William and Nettie Mae (Latham) Washburn at Wardville, OK and passed away November 9, 2025 at Richardson, TX. She attended Cottonwood School before graduating from Coalgate High School with the class of ‘70. Carolyn was a teacher at Club Hill Elementary School in Garland, TX for 35 years. She married Dean Paxton on April 12, 1979 in Coalgate. She was of the Methodist faith and loved reading, cooking, baking, watching Hallmark movies,spendingtime with her grandson, playing board games, crafting, sewing, painting, and going to lunch with her friends. Survivors include her husband, Harold Dean Paxton of the home; son, Matt Paxton of Allen, TX; daughter, Rachel Paxton and husband, Geoffrey Lloyd of Allen, TX; grandson, William Gillian of Allen, TX; sisters, Camellia Washburn and Betty Kelity both of Coalgate, Priscilla Lee and husband Doug Lee of Latta, OK; brothers, Ronnie Washburn and Roy Washburn, both of Coalgate; along with many other dearly loved friends and family.

Shewasprecededin death by her parents, William “Bill” and Nettie Mae (Latham) Washburn; sisters-inlaw, Donna Lewis and Rebecca Washburn; and brothers, William “Bobo” Washburn and Don Lewis.

Casketbearers will be Wade Washburn, Geoffrey Lloyd, Gerry Lloyd, Jim Paxton, Jr Hobbie and Troy Dyer. Serving as honorary bearers will be William Gillian, Cassandra Hobbie and Falan Hobbie.
