Coalgate Athletic Hall of Fame announces 2019 Sweet 16 Finalists
The Coalgate Athletic Hall of Fame Board has released the Sweet 16 candidates for the 2019 HOF. The Board is represented by charter members Bill Wilson, class of 1963; Steve Hudson, Chairman, 1970; Trent Bourland, 2000; three-year member Jack Bryant, former longtime coach at Coalgate; and newcomer Bonnie Lemons, class of 1975.
To qualify for the Hall of Fame honor, an individual must be nominated from the public for consideration by board members.
In the PLAYER category, the candidate must have played at least one varsity season at Coalgate HS with outstanding credentials in his or her sport. Also, receipt of the award would bring honor and respect to Coalgate HS at the time of the individual’s selection. In addition, all nominees must have a minimum of ten years separation from graduation before being eligible for this award.
COACHES, ATHLETIC ADMINISTRATORS AND BOOSTERS who made major contributions in their careers at Coalgate HS or elsewhere are also eligible for induction into the Hall of Fame.
Five candidates from the Sweet 16 list will be selected by the Board on February 2, 2019. If you would like to voice your support for one of these candidates, you may contact any of the board members for your input.
In addition, during January you will be given an opportunity to vote for your top deserving Coalgate Wildcat TEAM to be inducted. Further details will be released soon in regard to public voting. The Board wants to thank you for your outstanding support of the HOF as we enter into the fifth year of recognizing Coalgate Wildcats’ finest.
