Cynthia Pauline Slawson

Cynthia Pauline Slawson, age 89, of Atoka, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025 in Atoka, Oklahoma. She was born on December 2, 1935, in Atoka, Oklahoma, to Paul Sampson Finch Sr. and Ethel May (Courtney) Finch.
Cynthia was a longtime resident of Atoka and a beloved member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church. After graduating from Bethany Elementary and Atoka High School in 1953, she attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant for three years. She went on to work for many years in the medical records department, where she was known for her attention to detail and dedication. Earlier in her life, she also enjoyed teaching third grade, in Goose Creek, SC.
Cynthia was deeply devoted to her loved ones and especially cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. Cynthia enjoyed shopping, reading, and keeping up with sports on television—always cheering for her favorite teams.
She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Mead and husband Philip of Atoka, OK, Pam Benson and husband Dennis of Coffeyville, KS; sons, Ron Slawson and wife Paulla of Glenpool, OK, Kenny Slawson and wife Stacey of Atoka, OK.
Her grandchildren include Vanessa Hinds and husband Kendal of Emporia, KS; Kasey Bennett and husband Larry of Caney, OK; Charlie James and husband Matt of Atoka, OK; Taryn Jones and husband Taylor of Kearney, MO; Tyler Slawson of Denison, TX; Lauren Porter and husband Brett of Pittsburg, OK; Sophie Cochran and husband Tyler of Atoka, OK; Madison Puckett and husband Chandler of Bixby, OK; and Lexie Slawson of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends, who will miss her dearly. Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Prentis Finch, and Paul Finch Jr.; nephews, Mark Finch and Jamey Finch; niece, Kristy Finch.
Cynthia will be remembered for her kindness, her gentle humor, and the deep love she had for her family. Her memory will continue to bring warmth and comfort to all who knew her.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Tushka Cemetery with Bro. Jay Willoughby officiating. Serving as casketbearers were Tyler Slawson, Matt James, Tyler Cochran, Brett Porter, Larry Bennett and Chandler Puckett.
