Graveside services for Danny Kaye Ward, a Stuart resident, were held Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 2:00 p.m at Cairo Cemetery with family officiating. Family night was Monday, October 17, 2022 at the Ashland Baptist Church from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ward was born March 5, 1947 to J. C. Ward and Waunella (Hedgecock) Prince at McAlester, OK and passed away October 14, 2022 at McAlester at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 9 days. He was raised in Coal County but was a resident of Stuart for the last 35 years. He attended Mowdy Grade School and graduated from Coalgate High School in 1965. Danny attended Okmulgee Tech where he studied Sudent Art. He married Patricia May Tomlinson September 20, 1966 at Durant, OK. They enjoyed 56 wonderful years together. Danny retired from the City of Coalgate. He also worked at Coalgate Schools, the Oklahoma Game Department and at Garrett Bookstore in Ada. He was the preacher of Coalgate Presbyterian Church and Ashland Baptist Church. He continued to officiate funerals for anyone who asked. Dany was a christian and preached the Word in a lot of different denominations. He liked to hunt, fish, walk, watch butterflies and look at the trees. He loved life and being outdoors. Danny’s favorite times were spent with his family, especially his grandkids.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia May Ward of the home; children, Jeff Ward and wife April of Maud, OK, Joe K. Ward and wife Diane of Coalgate, Rodney Ward and wife Wendy, Tim Ward and wife Kindy all of Stuart, and Danna Parker and husband Chris of McAlester; grandchildren, Amber Ortega and husband, Chris of Stratford, OK, Austin Ward and wife Olivia of McAlester, Tarra Ward and husband Sam of Mangum, OK, Megan Fowler and husband Wyatt, Lyndsey Jordan and husband Matthew, Rebecca Rivers and husband Larry, Tristan Ward, all of Stuart, Gunnar Parker and wife Brylea of McAlester, Haylee Ward and fiance’ Gavin of Stonewall, OK, Bryar Parker of McAlester, Alex, Jacen, Kadie and Kacie of Maud, OK; great-grandchildren, Abby, Callee, Blake and Brantt Ortega, Wren and Finley Ward, Kamden and Koen Powers, Conner and Cain Fowler, Lincoln Jordan,Adeline Rivers, and Lakelyn Parker; brothers, Johnny D. Ward and wife Debbie of Coalgate, Randy Ward of Eagletown, OK, Benny Ward and wife Cheri of Cottonwood, OK, Bob Ward of Cairo, OK, Wes Ward of Coalgate, Terry Ward and wife Debbie of Allen, OK and Cody Ward of Coalgate; sister, Jaylene Roberts and husband, Frank of Lane, OK; two special sisters, Belinda Williams and Gracie Ferguson; step-mother, Murl Ward of Coalgate; along wit numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dearly loved friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J. C. Ward and Waunella Prince; step-dad, Roy Prince; brothers, Kelly Wayne Ward, Stanley Ward, Roy Ward and A. J. “Jayboy” Ward.

Casketbeares were Jeff Ward, Joe K. Ward, Rodney Ward, Tim Ward, Chris Parker, Austin Ward, Tristan Ward, Gunnar Parker and Bryar Parker. Honorary bearers were Paul Hooe, John Linton, Randal Erwin, Charles Canida, Gary Coffee, Alan Casey, Alvin Pebworth, Randy Cummins, Roland Cooper, Danny Ray Burns, John McPhetridge, David Graham, Bob Cody, Ron Wilson, Frank Sells, Clay Mowdy, James Frazier, Jim Cox, Roger Cosper, Chuck Loudermilk, David Cometti, Charles Spears, Ricky Tomlinson, Shane Tomlinson, Joe Young and Harry E. Farris.
