Funeral services for Earl Mitchell Jones, a Tupelo resident, were held Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Brock Jones officiating. Burial was in Centrahoma Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Jones was born April 9, 1933 to Claudson Marion and Willie May (Lovelady) Jones at Walters, Oklahoma and passed away March 15, 2024 at Coalgate at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 6 days. In early years, he lived upstairs at the Lexington Fire Department where he worked tending to the hogs and sheep. It was there he met his love, Ruth Marie Jones. They married in 1951 and enjoyed many years together before her passing. Earl loved to hunt coyotes and run his hounds. He loved talking on the phone, watching Fox News and the cowboy channel. Earl liked listening to old country music. His favorite times were spent with family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Pam Jones of Wellston, OK, Keith Jones of Eufaula, OK, Leith Jones of Bristow, OK; grandchildren, Bryan Jones and wife Bree of Shawnee, OK, Brock Jones and wife, Holli of Tupelo, OK, Misti Miller and husband Terry of Little Axe, OK, Skylar McElhaney and husband Don of Wellston, OK, Hunter Jones, Shelby Jones, both of Bristow, OK; great-grandchildren, Kyle Jones, Tyler Jones, Audrey Jones, Hadley Jones, Rowdy Jones, Raylee Jones, Kaylee Lillard, Gracie Miller, Avery McElhaney, Addison McElhaney, Loren Hunter, Bexlee Rice, Briar Jones and Rocker Jones; great-great grandchildren, Channie Lillard and Everleigh Jones; brother, Gerald Jones and wife Delores of Woodward, OK.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Marie Jones; parents, Claudson and Willie Jones; daughter-in-law, Donna Sue Jones.

Casketbearers were Kenneth Alexander, Danny Alexander, Mike Stover, Tim Suchy, Terry Miller, and Don McElhaney. Honorary bearers were Willie Stevens, Kenny Pearce, Joe Campo, Trey Roberson, David Roberson, Taylor Ray, Terry Rush, Steve Rush, Max Suchy, Johnny Keesee, Billy Suchy, all grandsons and greatgrandsons.
