Graveside Service Held for Alvin Wayne Johnson

Graveside services for Alvin Wayne Johnson, a Coalgate resident, were held Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Lehigh Cemetery in Lehigh, OK with Bro. Eddie Hogue officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate.

Mr. Johnson was born April 13, 1930 to William Roscoe and Jennie Myrtie (Gearhart) Johnson at Siloam Springs, AR and passed away April 27, 2023 at Coalgate at the age of 93 years and 14 days. Al attended Mark Twain Public Roosevelt Junior High in Tulsa, OK and graduated from Jaybird High School in Siloam Springs, AR. He married Linda Lou Kuhlman in 1950 in San Antonio, TX. He later married Rosa Burden in 1998 in Coalgate. Al enjoyed buying and selling at Flea Markets. He was a member of Cottonwood Baptist Church and the Coalgate Methodist Church. Al was an adjutant for Camp #2259 Sons of the Confederate Veterans of Oklahoma.

Survivors include his children, Nancy Lee, Sherry Lynn, Cynthia Yvonne, and Alvin, Jr.; step-children, Cynthia Jean McKay, Ruddy McKay, Chuck McKay, Joan McKay, Denise McKay, Dana Derrick, Wayne Burden, and Randy Burden; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Roscoe and Jennie Myrtie (Gearhart) Johnson; daughter, Karen Denise; brothers, Kenneth, Terrial and Bill, Jr.; sisters, Doris and Imogene.

Casketbearers were Robert Hampton, Eddie Hogue, Donald Compton and Claude Lovett.
