Graveside service held for Jacqueline McEntire

A graveside service for Jacqueline “Jackie” (Smith) McEntire, a Stringtown resident, was held Sunday, March 29, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Meadows Cemetery in Atoka, OK with Bro. Joey Lansdale officiating. Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. McEntire was born November 6, 1926 to George Elvin and Reba Estelle (Brasfield) Smith at Reynolds, OK and passed away March 14, 2020 at her home in Stringtown, OK at the age of 93 years, 4 months and 8 days. She attended Limestone Gap School where she graduated in 1943 at the age of 16. She went on to Southeastern Oklahoma State College in Durant. She received her honorary degree at the age of 89. Jackie married Clark McEntire March 17, 1950 at Atoka, OK. He preceded her in death October 23, 2014. Jackie was a school teacher, was a school secretary where she retired in 1973 and was a ranch helper. She was a longtime member of Stringtown Baptist Church, was on the board of directors for the Stringtown Public School Foundation and a member of H.AN.D.S. (Helping A Needy Diva Survive) a rodeo organization. She enjoyed fishing, reading her treasured books and loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children, Alice Foran and husband Robert of Lane, OK, Pake McEntire of Cairo, OK, Reba McEntire of Nashville, TN, and Susie McEntire-Eaton and husband Mark of Chockie, OK; sister, Georgia Lawrence of Coalgate, OK; grandchildren, Vince Beck and wife Shelley of Lane, OK, Garett Smith and husband Justin of Castle, OK,Trevor Foran and wife Cindy of Lane, OK, Haley Foran of Lane, OK, Autumn Sizemore and husband Mark of Nashville, TN, Calamity McEntire of Dayton, OH, Chism McEntire of Nashville, TN, Pecos Pete and Jackson McEntire of Buck Creek, OK, Becky Strickland, Shelby Blackstock of Nashville, TN, Shawna Meyers and husband Jason of Lebanon, TN, Brandon Blackstock and wife Kel ly of Los Angeles, CA, Chassidy Standefer and husband Scott of Houston, TX, E.P. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Imogene Thompson; brother, Dale Smith; nephew Gary Thompson and niece Dianna Smith.

Casketbearers were Vince Beck, Trevor Foran, E.P. Luchsinger, Samuel Luchsinger, Shelby Blackstock, Justin Smith, Pecos Pete McEntire and Jackson McEntire. Honorary bearers were Pat Emerson, Gwen Walker, Sharon Shoulders, Donna McSpadden, Louise Moore, Billie Parker, Anne Gray, Marcia Kellogg and Maurine Maggi.
