Funeral services for Jackie Virginia (Smith) Anderson, a Centrahoma resident, will be held Wednesday (today) May 31, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Pastor David Unsell officiating, assisted by Pastor Eddie Hogue and Pastor David Boggs. Burial will be in Centrahoma Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Anderson was born May 30, 1933 to Oron and Ada (O’Dell) Smith in Coal County, OK and passed away May 26, 2023 at her home in Centrahoma, OK at the age of 89 year, 11 months and 26 days. She attended grade schools in Mowdy, Wardville, McCarty and Lone Star. Jackie went to Coalgate High School beginning in 1948 and graduated in 1951. She attended East Central University where she received her Bachelor of Science in 1970 and her Master of Education in 1973. Jackie also attended SOSU, OU and OSU. She was a teacher at Emerson Elementary from 1971 to 1992 and a secretary at Wallace Byrd Middle School from 1993 to 1997. Jackie married Paul Anderson March 15, 1952 at Sherman, TX. They celebrated 56 years together before his passing on February 13, 2009. Jackie was a member and Sunday school teacher at the Centrahoma Baptist Church. She was also a member of NEA, OEA, and CCE. She was a Stamp Club sponsor from 1976 to 1991, an East Central OEA delegate, a Girl Scout leader from 1976 to 1978, a 4-H leader the Hurley Manor Volunteer’s secretary and treasurer starting in 1978 and continued for many years. Jackie was also the president of the Centrahoma Cemetery Association and received the honor of being named Coal County Teacher of the Year in 1991-1992.

She is survived by her son, Chris Miller; grandson, Ty Miller; granddaughter, Mallory Miller and numerous nieces, nephews, and many dearly loved friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Anderson; son, John Paul Anderson; parents, Oron and Ada (O’Dell) Anderson; seven brothers, Jake, Alvis, J.B, Pete, Buster, Waymon and Bob; and two sisters, Christine McKinnley and Gene (Tookie) Simpson.
