Funeral services for Jerry Ray Scott Sr., a Coalgate resident, were held Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Bro. Eddie Hogue officiating. Burial was in Centrahoma Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Scott was born January 20, 1950 to Haskel Cleo “Bill” and Ola Pauline (Twyford) Scott at Memphis, TX and passed away December 13, 2023 at Coalgate at the age of 73 years, 10 months and 23 days. He attended school at Cottonwood Elementary and Casa Grande, AZ. Jerry married Nancy Bush on September 5, 2008 in Atoka, OK. She preceded him in death. Jerry was a cotton farmer in Casa Grande, AZ. He was of the Pentecostal faith and enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, and raising animals. Jerry had a green thumb. He liked listening to country music and watching westerns, especially ones with his favorite actor, Gene Autry.

Survivors include his children, Jerry Ray Scott Jr. and Salena Pepper of Coalgate, Terry Reeves and husband Donnie of Antlers, OK and Amy Scott of Hugo, OK; grandchildren, Marshall Hearrell, Sofia Scott, Paul Scott, John Tanner, NaeNae Carter, Lane Scott and Tori Scott; six greatgrandchildren; siblings, Joyce Hunt and husband Rickey of Atoka, Ruby Cady of Oklahoma City, and Bette Price of Coalgate; mother of his children, Connie Sue (Wallace) Hooten of Hugo, OK; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Scott; parents, Haskel Cleo “Bill” and Ola Pauline (Twyford) Scott; siblings, Paul Scott, Henry Scott, and Cynthia Cobb; niece, Deborah Lynn Hunt; and nephew, Mark Scott.

Casketbearers were Jayden Stanley, Eric Hunt, Larry Don Scott, Jeffery Scott, John Tanner, and Lane Scott. Serving as honorary bearers were Rickey Hunt and Marshall Hearrell.
