Funeral services for Joann (Smith) Sadler, a Coalgate resident, were held Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Pastor Bill Daniels officiating assisted by Rev. Marcus Burks. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in McAlester, OK with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sadler was born January 17, 1956 to Bill Eugene Smith and Wilda Allene (Belt) Belcher at Bisbee, AZ and passed away March 23, 2022 at Coalgate at the age of 66 years, 2 months and 6 days. She graduated from McAlester High School and married Royal Buddy Sadler. He preceded her in death December 28, 2012.

Joann was a certified nurses’ aide and was a faithful member of the Apostolic Truth Tabernacle in Atoka. She had a servant’s heart and gave the best pats and warm hugs. “I love you” were familiar words to her and she always had a smile for everyone she met. Joann enjoyed reading, but her favorite times were spent with her grandson, Samuel. She passed away surrounded by the ones she loved the most.

Survivors include a daughter, Alina Jo Horn and husband A. J. of Lehigh, OK; grandson, Samuel Lee Horn of Lehigh; siblings, Evelyn Williams of Ponca City, OK, Carol Hall and husband Kenneth of McAlester, Lynn Bowen of Tulsa, James Smith and wife Debbie of McAlester, and Billy Smith and wife Maria of Wylie, TX; stepdaughters, Sherri Martinez of McAlester and Valinda Kelly of Houston, TX; daughter-in-law, Melody Sadler of Ozark, MO; along with numerous stepgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of dearly loved friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Royal Buddy “Pee Paw” Sadler; parents, Bill Eugene Smith and Wilda Allene Belt; niece, Leah Crowson; great-nephew, Donnie Allen; stepson, Bryan Sadler; and stepdaughter, Sheila Landford.

Casketbearers were James Smith, Josh Smith, Terry Williams, Kenneth Hall, Ronnie Smith, and Alfred Horn. Serving as honorary bearers were Samuel Horn, A. J. Horn, Michael Burns, Bryson Gasowski, Mason Owens, Jaden Sadler, and Kenny Hall.
