Funeral services for Lou Ellen (Wilson) Hatchett, a Friendswood, Texas resident, were held Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Pastor Dan Ward officiating. Burial was in Coalgate Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hatchett was born August 3, 1938 to Paul Seaborn and Wilma Inell (Rhea) Wilson at Coalgate in the house her Grandpa A. J. Wilson and uncles built in the Mowdy community. Lou was the granddaughter of Arasmus Jerome and Ellen Amelia Lassiter Wilson and George Elmer and Sarah Louise Stalcup Rhea, great-granddaughter of James Riley and Rebecca I. Swift Wilson, William H. and Mary M. Hayes Lassiter, Will and Minnie Biggerstaff Rhea, W. Wesley and Susan Frances Stover Stalcup. She passed away April 20, 2022 at Eagle Lake, TX at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 17 days.

Lou graduated from Coalgate High School in 1956 and then attended Austin College in Sherman and East Central University on a music scholarship. She later attended San Jacinto College and University of Houston, TX. Lou was a programmer/ data analyst for United Space Alliance at NASA in Houston, TX and worked for NASA contractors for over 30 years. She was the wife of Thomas Haywood Hatchett, Sr. They married December 20, 1959. Lou was a member of the Coalgate Presbyterian Church, Hope Lutheran Church in Friendswood and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed playing piano, tennis, genealogy and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her daughters, Elizabeth Chapman of Angleton, TX and Susan Tomchesson and husband David of East Bernard, TX; sons, Thomas Hatchett, Jr. and wife Ann of Galveston, TX and James Hatchett and wife Erin of Springtown, TX; grandchildren, Aaron Roberts and wife Tonisa, Jason Roberts and wife Annie, Stephanie Moscarro, Joseph Roberts and wife Beth and Jonathon Chapman; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Lily, Evelyn, Alexis, Titus, Marc, Alex, Cheyenne, Emile, Raeleigh, Michelle, Dannyelle, and Joseph; brother, Rhea Wilson; sister, Karen Wilson; cousins, Paula Leister Hall, Myron Leister, Lyman Leister, all of CA, William Wilson, Jr. of Coalgate, Kay Wilson Boyd of TX, Marcy Beleele of TX, Jerry B. Rhea, Charlotte R. Rhea, Priscilla Rhea Daugherty, John Stovall and Jay Stovall, all of OK.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Seaborn and Wilma Inell Rhea Wilson and sister, Sharon Wilson Butts.

Casketbearers were Aaron Roberts, Jason Roberts, Ross Vitek, Mark Wilson and Steve Wilson. Honorary bearers Joseph Roberts and Jonathon Chapman.
