Mildred Hernandez

A memorial service for Mildred Lea Hernandez, a longtime Atoka and Coalgate resident, will be held Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Meadows Cemetery in Atoka. Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka.

Mrs. Hernandez was born July 22, 1916 to William Homer and Nora Elverda (Brewer) Sharp at Lane, OK and passed away July 14, 2025 at Coalgate, OK at the age of 108, 11 months and 22 days. She attended Atoka County Schools and was an electronic assembler. She made control panels for bombs at Locke Martin. Mrs. Hernandez married Jesus Toboda Hernandez on August 11, 1954 in Monterey, CA. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage before his passing on June 25, 2012. Mildred enjoyed gardening, reading and cooking and was a good cook.

Survivors include her granddaughters, Michele Goracke and husband Randall of bells, TX and Laura Dodd of California; two great-grandsons; five great-greatg randchildren; one great-greatgreat grandson; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Homer and Nora Elverda (Brewer) Sharp; husband, Jesus Toboda Hernandez; daughter, Gretta Dodd; grandson, Byron Dodd; great-grandson, Johnathan Cerra; and siblings, Jewel Morgan, Mark Benton Sharp, and Robert Sharp.
