Graveside service for Noah Lee Burris “Sonny”, a longtime Coalgate resident, were held Wednesday, (today) May 10, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Round Lake Cemetery in Centrahoma, OK with Pastor David Unsell officiating. Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Burris was born January 8, 1954 to Lee and Mildred (Bohanon) Burris at Centrahoma, OK and passed away May 7, 2023 at Ada, OK at the age of 69 years, 3 months and 29 days. He graduated in 1973 from Tupelo High School and proudly served in the Oklahoma Army National Guard. Noah married Karen Anderson May 23, 1975 in Ada, OK. They celebrated 47 years of marriage before his passing. Noah worked for Ethan Allen in Atoka as a ripsaw operator. He later worked for the Choctaw Nation in Tribal Transit. Noah was a member of Round Lake Presbyterian Church and always ensured that the church grounds were in tip top shape and ready for visitors. He enjoyed watching his favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals, and talking on the phone for hours with his friend Jeff Byington. Most of all he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and just spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Burris of the home in Coalgate; sons, Joshua Burris and wife Brandi of Panama, OK, and Joseph Burris and wife Kayla of Centrahoma, OK; grandchildren, Isaac Burris and wife Sierra of Shady Point, OK, Anderson Burris and wife Bailey of Poteau, OK, Lucas Burris and Elise Burris, both of Phoenix, AZ, Charlotte Burris and Jonah Burris, both of Centrahoma OK; greatgrandchildren, Bradi Burris and Payton Burris, both of Shady Point, OK; honorary son, Chad Ratcliff of Coalgate; six sisters, Ola, Ruth, Vickie, Doris, Faye and Gwen; one brother, David; two sisters-in-law, Kathleen and Rebecca; one brother-inlaw, Gary; along with numerous niece, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Mildred (Bohanon) Burris; brother, Donnie; sisters, Leona, Sue and Dorena; parents-in-law, CB and Clara Anderson; and brother-in-law, Gerald Echols.

Casketbearers were Buster Ratcliff, Jeff Burris, Dennis Ludlow, Brenden Jackson, Keith ThunderBull and Trevan Jimboy. Honorary bearers were Isaac Burris, Anderson Burris, Chad Ratcliff, Dan Loudermilk, David Burris, Ellis Carnes, Charles Canida, Gary Echols, Jeff Byington, James Frazier and Chock McDaniel.
