Our Sympathies extended to the families of... John Ward

Funeral services for John Wilton Ward, a Coalgate resident, were held Monday, January 25, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Mr. Wes Ward officiating. Burial was in Cairo Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ward was born September 24, 1956 to John and Lowann Joyce (Miles) Ward at Coalgate, OK and passed away January 20, 2021 at Oklahoma City at the age of 64 years, 3 months and 27 days. He attended and graduated from Coalgate High school in 1974 and was a farmer and rancher. Little John grew up and was raised in Coalgate and was a member of the Church of Christ in Coalgate. From high school he went on to fulfill a rewarding career of rodeo like many of his family generations before him. He was a competitive bull rider/bronc rider and rodeo clown along with other events related to rodeo. Little John was a mentor to many young cowboys and taught at his own Rodeo School for many years. In his later years he enjoyed farm and ranch life.

Survivors include his son, Ben Ward and wife Ashley and their son Bridger of Coalgate; daughter, Rocki Hoops and husband Cary and their son Caylor of Cumby, TX; sisters, Micki Blue and husband Wayne of Coalgate, Cynthia Wesley and husband Edward of Okemah and Marilyn Edison of Norman; five nephews; one niece and numerous great nieces and nephews and many dear and loved friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents John Wayne and Lowann (Miles) Ward.

Casketbearers were Rodger Wilson, Mark Ward, Burney Blue, Aaron Blue and Jack Wilson. Honorary casketbearers were Billy Downard, Ernie Smith, Jamie Ward, Joe Ward, Joe Childress and Mark Childress.
