Our sympathies to the families of John Leo Fritz

John Leo Fritz, of Coalgate, Oklahoma went to be with the Lord in Heaven on Sunday September 5, 2021, after reaching the age of 87 years old and 11 months. He died peacefully within his home in Coalgate, Oklahoma.

John was born on October 15, 1933, in Coalgate, OK to Leo Virgill and Ruby Francis Fritz. In 1960 John enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany for two years. After four years of service John was honorably discharged from the United States Army. On October 13, 1967, John married the love of his life Iva Soderstrom. John L. Fritz joined the Masonic Lodge #211 of Coalgate Oklahoma as an entered apprentice on February 27 th , 1965. He then was passed to the degree of fellowcraft on April 16, 1965. He was raised to a Master Mason on May 15, 1965. He was also a dual member of Myrtle Lodge #145 of Oklahoma City. He held the office of Junior Steward at Myrtle. John was raised as a 32 nd degree Scottish rite Mason in Guthrie Oklahoma in February of 1972. John had over 50 years of service to the Masonic Lodge as a lifetime member and donated to several charitable foundation affiliated within the lodge. John was a family man that worked hard for his money and spent many years working at Lucent Technologies to provide for his household. After twenty plus years of hard work John retired and found time for his wide range of hobbies.

During his time in Oklahoma City, John treasured taking his dogs for walks in the park. He enjoyed hand drawing trashy Christmas cards and calling all the “Connies” “ugly” to give everyone a good laugh. John cherished his large record collection and was an avid reader. He liked completing crossword puzzles. He loved being surrounded by his grandchildren. After moving back to Coalgate Oklahoma his favorite thing to do first thing in the morning was to enjoy a cup of coffee and a donut. Attending regular blue lodge meetings. He was a creature of habit who filled his later days with the news, history channel, and ghost stories. John was a thankful man who was a member of the Methodist church in Oklahoma City.

John was survived by his children; Suzan and husband Mark Helberg, and Dawn and Husband Amos Adcock. His grandchildren; Jessica Houston, Ashley Helberg, Josh Helberg, Sabrina Needham, Shannon Humphreys, Amanda Roebuck, Echo Adcock, and Isaac Adcock. Along with nieces, nephews, and many loved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Ruby Fritz, wife Iva Fritz, siblings, Juanita Morris, Loretta Richardson, and Tommy Fritz, and his granddaughter Natalie Adcock.

Funeral Services were Friday, September 10, 2021, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel at Browns Funeral Home in Coalgate Oklahoma. Graveside services were at Rest Haven Cemetery in Oklahoma City at 3:00 p.m.
