Our sympathy is extended to the family of Shanelle Watts

Funeral services for Shanelle Ellen (Baxter) Watts, a Coalgate resident, were held Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Cottonwood School Gymnasium in Cottonwood with Adam Canler officiating assisted by Abe Hershberger and Ed Schrock. Burial was in Cairo Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Shanelle was born April 16, 1972 to Robert Max and Linda Rae (Patterson) Baxter, at Alamosa, CO, and passed away April 11, 2023 at Coleman, OK at the age of 50 years, 11 months and 26 days. She attended Cottonwood and Coalgate Schools. Shanelle graduated from Coalgate High School and received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Education at Southeastern Oklahoma StateUniversity. Shewas pursuing an Accounting Degree at Southeastern and a second Master’s Degree at East Central University. Shanelle was an accountant for Choctaw Nation. She taught at Milburn Public Schools for several years where she influenced many lives. Shanelle loved being involved in the Amish Community. She married John Watts June 2, 2018 at Broken Bow, OK. Shanelle was a member of Victory Life Church of Atoka, OK. She enjoyed reading and playing water sports. Her favorite times were spent with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, John Watts of the home in Coalgate; children, Jessica Perry and husband Trey of Wapanucka, OK, Jase Collins and girlfriend Lupe of Coalgate, Madison Calton and husband Jarret of Branson, MO, Ruby Watts of Coalgate, and Victor Huser and wife Emily of Kentucky; grandchildren Tayson and Tucker Perry, Laney and Lyle James Huser; mother, Linda Rae Baxter of McAlester; siblings, Clay Baxter and wife Kim of McAlester, and Sean Baxter and wife Michelle of Cleveland, OK; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dearly loved friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Max Baxter; paternal grandparents, Charlie and Marilou Baxter and maternal grandparents, Joe and Lena Patterson.

Casketbearers were Joey McBride, Patrick McCarty, Dave Walters, Daniel Hershberger, Jonathon Hershberger and Kenneth Troyer.
