Roy Riley Rogers

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Roy Riley Rogers, a man of wisdom, courage, andtenacity, who left us on April 29, 2025. Robert Louis Stevenson once said, “Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.” Roy, born on June 17, 1946 in Coalgate, OK, USA, lived by these words. He planted seeds of love, joy, and resilience in the hearts of those who knew him, and his legacy will continue to flourish in their lives.
Roy attended Pine and Coalgate Schools, and his love for learning was evident in his thirst for knowledge and his constant curiosity. His career as a mechanic spanned about 25 years at S.S. Railroad, where his hard work, dedication, and expertise made a significant impact. But Roy was not just a mechanic; he was an adventurer at heart, a cowboy who loved riding horses and mules, a sportsman who enjoyed horseshoes and pool. He was a lover of the outdoors, a coon and deer hunter, a fisherman. Yet, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends. These were the times when his infectious laugh and warm spirit shone the brightest.
Roy is remembered fondly by his son, Mike Rogers and his wife, Amy Cooke; his daughter, Marsha Gates and her husband, Kelly Gates; his cherished grandchildren, Cody Rogers, Julia Firey, Eli Rogers, RyLee Rogers, Kambri Gates; and his precious great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Remington, and Walker. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zelma (Howerton) Rogers and Berl Rogers SR, and his brothers, John Rogers, Berl Rogers JR, Lloyd Rogers, and Denver Rogers.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 10:00 am at Pine Cemetery, (Pine) Coalgate, Oklahoma, 74538, to honor Roy’s life and cherish his memory. As we gather to remember and celebrate Roy’s life, we invite you to share your memories and photos of him on the memorial page. His story is not only written in the dates of his life but in the love and joy he shared with us all. His spirit lives on, not just in memory, but in the lives of those he touched.
Following the service we will be hosting our reunion.
