Service held for Billy Wayne Latham

Funeral services for Billy Wayne Latham, an Atoka resident, formerly of Lubbock, TX, were held Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Atoka with Rev. Lawrence Buller and William Airington officiating. Burial was in Nowabbi Cemetery in Atoka with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Latham was born December 15, 1943 to B. L. and Lela Marie (Mahan) Latham at Boswell, OK and passed away January 14, 2020 at Atoka, OK at the age of 76 years, and 30 days.

He graduated from Denver City, TX high school and married Margaret Ann Reddick in 1965 in Denver City, TX, then married Georgette Grace Ritter in April of 1983 in Lubbock, TX until her passing in 2014. Billy married Sue Ellen Watkins on July 1, 2017 in Durant, OK. Billy was an auto mechanic and has worked a number of years at Budget Tune-up in Lubbock, TX.

He was a longtime member of Shepherd of the Plains Lutheran Church in Lubbock, TX. After moving, he was a member of Live Oak Pentecostal Church in Durant, OK. Billy loved Texas Tech football, loved to travel, was a big fan of holidays and went all out to celebrate with family and friends and loved meeting his friends for coffee.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Ellen Latham of Lehigh, OK; children, Berry Latham and wife, Priscilla of Atoka, Michael Latham and wife Celena of Colleyville, TX, Tammie Ortiz and husband Javier of Atoka; grandchildren, Nathan Woody, Berry Latham, Jr., Joshua Nowabbi, Cody Latham, Nikkina Nowabbi, Shelena Latham, Jeremy Latham, Austin Simmons, Katie Latham, Blanca Seal, Marcos Ortiz, Alisia Ortiz, Xander Ortiz, and Andreas Ortiz; great-grandchildren, Alex, Aiden, Jessie, Aly, Gabby and Jude; along with numerous nieces, nephew, cousins, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George W. Latham; and sister, Jo-Evelyn Trent.

Casketbearers were William Airington, Paul Rung, Charles Kelley, Charles Nowabbi, Joshua Nowabbi and Nathan Woody. Honorary bearers were grandsons, Jeremy Latham, Berry Latham, Jr., Cody Latham, Austin Simmons, Xander Ortiz, and Andreas Ortiz.
