Service held for Elwanda Maxine Williams

Graveside services for Elwanda Maxine (Thomas) Williams, a Shawnee, OK resident, formerly a long-time Atoka, OK resident, were held Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Ward’s Chapel Cemetery in Atoka, OK with Bro. Tom Hargrave officiating. Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Williams was born September 28, 1924 to Hugh Willard and Willie Frand (Hargrave) Thomas at Atoka, OK and passed April 12, 2020 at Shawnee, OK at the age of 95 years, 6 months and 15 days. She graduated from Atoka High School in 1942 and married Joe K. Williams on January 15, 1943 at Atoka, OK. He preceded her in death on April 11, 2010. They celebrated 67 years of marriage before his passing. Elwanda worked in the Civil Service. She attended Ward’s Chapel Church.

Survivors include her children, Linda Madden and husband Dennis of Argyle, TX, Jerry Williams and wife Sandy of Shawnee, OK; grandchildren, Amanda Pitt and husband Scott of Argyle, TX, Alissa Ward and husband Denny of Roanoke, TX, Josh Williams and wife Lyndsey of Shawnee, OK and Mark Williams and wife Lauren of Fletcher, OK; great-grandchildren, Jake Williams and Katelyn Williams of Shawnee, OK, Daylia Williams of Fletcher, OK, Emmaline Pitt of Argyle, TX, Drew Williams of Fletcher, OK, Abbigail Pitt, Autumn Pitt, Judah Pitt of Argyle, TX; sister, Sue Flowers of Atoka, OK; brother, Pete Thomas of Coalgate; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear and loved friends.

She was preceded in death by siblings: Ben Thomas, Elmo Thomas, A. W. Thomas, Doyle Thomas, Eileen Sandmann, Max Thomas, Rudolph Thomas, Royce Thomas and Bobby Thomas.
