Service held for E.W. “Dub” Echols

Funeral Services for E.W. “Dub” Echols, a Tupelo resident were Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in Brown’s Funeral Chapel with Pastor Eddie Hogue officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Grove, Coal County, OK. with Brown’s Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.

E.W. was born on April 2, 1927, to Floyd and Mary Zenny (McAlester) Echols, at Stonewall, OK and passed away on July 16, 2020 at Sulphur, Ok. at the age of 93 years, 3 months and 14 days. He attended Tupelo School and proudly served in the United States Army. Mr. Echols was a welder and draftsman and drew plans for many natural gas plants. He was happy to offer his welding services to anyone that needed it. E.W. was taught by his Uncle Lewis how to weld and was an old school reserved person. He loved his family and was grateful to be active.

Survivors include son, Gary Echols and wife Brenda of Purcell, OK, daughter-in-law, Linda Echols of Byng, OK, step-son, Rand Burgett and wife Debbie of Florida: nephew, Marlin McKay and wife Susan of Stonewall, OK: God-daughter, Joyce Teel of Byng, OK.: grandchildren, Sherrie, Terenda, Amanda Echols of Purcell, OK, Donivan McKenzie o Frisco, TX, Laura Roebuck of Tupelo, OK, Carrie Boyd of Atwood, OK, Charlie Echols of Byng, OK, great-grandchildren, Kolton and Kyndal Johnston, DeLana and Dexter McKenzie, Ottis Donaho, Mattie and Anabell Phillips, Nathan Jones, Tyler and Hayden Ware, Haylee, Rylee, Paslee, Mylee and Charlee Echols along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Floyd and Mary Zenny (McAlester) Echols: sons, Elmer Floyd Echols and Charlie Gerald Echols: sister, Marie McKay: brother-in-law, Pete McKay and grandson, Parker McKenzie.

Casket bearers were David Ellis, Alvin Ellis, Cliff Ellis, Rick Ellis, Kerrie Sutton, Lyndon Sutton
