Service held for Johnie Lee Burkhart

Funeral services for Johnie Lee Burkhart, 78, Altus, OK, were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 21, 2022 at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Larry Don Williams officiating. Mr. Burkhart passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022 at his home. Burial with Air Force honors were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2022 in the Coalgate Cemetery, Coalgate, OK, under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Johnie Lee Burkhart was born January 16, 1944 in Wardville, Oklahoma to John and Lillian (Wright) Burkhart. After graduating from high school, Johnie served his country in the United States Air Force. He married Judy Fall and was later married to Kathy Kirkes.

After his discharge, Johnie went to work as a carpenter and woodworker and did so for many years. He received an associate degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and from Western Oklahoma State College. Johnie enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking but he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandbabies.

His parents, wives, two grandchildren, Lance O’Briant and Autumn Lee Burkhart, and a sister, Debbie Hickerson, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his children, Lee Kinnison and husband, Greg, Steven Becker, Kelly Venard, Laura Copeland and husband, Benjamin, Marla Simmons, Jennifer Jones and husband, John, Brandon Burkhart, Corey Burkhart, and Josh Burkhart and wife, Sarah; 29 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Williams and husband, Larry, and Glenda Burkhart; two brothers, David Burkhart and wife, Cheryl, and Kenny Burkhart and wife, Doris; and many nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

The Burkhart family received friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 2022 at the funeral home.
