Marzella Harrison Freeman, age 74, of Atoka, Oklahoma, affectionately known as “Kitty”, a name given by her Uncle Charlie, was born on Thursday, July 3, 1947, to Tommie Lee Sr. and Bertha (Hale) Harrison, in Atoka, OK. Marzella passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022 in Atoka, OK. She graduated from Atoka High School in 1966. She attended Job Corp in Mckinney, Texas and later attended Grayson County Community College where she received an Associate’s Degree in 1975. While attending school she worked at Hubbard Nursing home and later was an LPN at the Atoka Hospital, where she retired after 32 years. Marzella often worked at Coal County Hospital, and the Atoka Nursing Home.

She first married, Oland Menifee in 1965. Marzella later married Donald Freeman on Sunday, June 1st, 1969 at Atoka, OK. They celebrated 41 years of marriage before his passing on February 17, 2011. Marzella was an active member of Penn and A Church of Christ and 4th Ward Church of Christ. She enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren and also delighted in cooking, assuring her family had a hot meal daily. She was an avid reader, enjoying multiple books at a time and she could be found watching a good movie on Llifetime. She loved shopping and enjoyed just browsing for new items. She always worked behind the scenes to make family events successful, enjoyable, and well organized. Marzella was a gentle spirit and one of a quiet demeanor.

Survivors include her children, Jacqueline Richards of Oklahoma City, Valerie Dollar and husband Jeff of Yukon, OK, Anissa Freeman-Brown and husband Kenny of Newton, KS, Matthew Freeman and wife Alisha of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Kenda, Kandice, Kenton, Amya, Layla, Cole, Jaylyn, Jayden, Patrick, Hanna, Haley, Andrew; greatgrandchildren, Kaydance, Jaylee, Ke’Don, Kasia, Kinion, Kylen, Sage; brothers, Dickey Harrison and wife Jesse of Plano, TX, Marshall Harrison and Stacy Harrison, both of Oklahoma City; sisters, Wilma Bright of Riverside, CA, Eleanor Williams of Wichita Falls, TX, Josephine Harrison of Ardmore, OK, Rebecca Fuller of Atoka, Ok, Marie Harrison of Wichita Falls, TX; along with nieces, nephews other relatives and many dear and loved friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Freeman; parents, Tommie and Bertha (Hale) Harrison; siblings, Ada Corbray, Leonard Ray Harrison, Danny Harrison, David Harrison, Tommie Harrison, Phyllis Harrison and Emmanuel Harrison.

Services will be Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Atoka with Bro. Willard Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Atoka with Brown’s Funeral Service of Atoka in charge of arrangements.

Casketbearers will be Tommie Harrison, Edward Green, Bradley Corbray, Cornelius Harrison, Ulysses Harrison, Todd Cooper, Josh Harrison and Kenan Ivy. Honorary bearers will be Kevin West, Keith Freeman, Simon Finley, Jimmy Vinson, Joe Harrison and John Henry Davis. Serving as flowergirls are Rasheeda Harrison, Takhay Harrison, Teresa Dunn, Dorothy Cooper, Audrey Harrison, Aquanetta Bismillah, Cornelia Williams, Tyra Harrison and Chelsey Hayes.
