Service Thursday for Carl Dean Spears

Funeral services for Carl Dean Spears, a long-time Lehigh resident, will be held Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Bro. Eddie Hogue officiating. Burial will be in the Spears Family Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements. Family night will be Wednesday night, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Spears was born June 9, 1947 to Joe Harmon Spears and Geraldine Patricia (Trail) Vance at Merced, CA and passed away February 17, 2023 at his home in Lehigh at the age of 75 years, 8 months and 8 days. He graduated high school and attended Culinary College. Carl was a machinist at Blue Bell. He married Zelda Kay Breger November 24, 1995 at Uncle Bob Trail’s house in Cottonwood, OK. Carl was a member of the Cottonwood Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching TV, being outdoors and camping. His favorite times were spent with his family. He especially enjoyed float trips down Blue River.

Survivors include his sons, William Spears and wife Dijoni of Wapanucka, OK, Eddie JoDean Spears and wife Karen of Lehigh, OK and Allen Spears of Ada, OK; daughters, Anita Richardson and husband Shane of Coalgate, Michelle Self and husband Brett of Wheatland, MO and AmyBregerofHarmony, OK; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles Spears and wife Linda of Coalgate, Eddie Spears of Eufaula, OK, Paul Spears of Coalgate and Frank Spears and wife Karla of Frostproof, FL; sisters, Linda Williams and husband Mike of Durant, OK, Vickie Mallett of Cartersville, GA and Debbie Hobson and husband Mike of Shreveport, LA; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and dearly loved friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Harmon Spears; mother, Geraldine Patricia (Trail) Vance; brother, Billy Joe Spears; and sisters, Patricia Dubois and baby sister, Hatti.

Casketbearers will be Jo Spears, William Spears, Donald Spears, Morgan Walston, Cameron Spears, and Sam Hilburn. Honorary bearers will be Dennis Bever, Robert Pugh, Allen Spears, Bryan Layton, Brett Self and George Riter.
