Service Thursday for Violet Vera Walthall

Funeral services for Violet Vera Walthall, a longtime Stringtown resident, will be held Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Stringtown with Bro. Joey Lansdale officiating. Atoka Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Walthall was born June 17, 1925 to Thomas Washington Armstrong and Stella (Ingram) Armstrong in Mena, Arkansas and passed away January 11, 2019 at the age of 93 years, 6 months and 24 days. She married Charleie Earnest Walthall on March 20, 1941 in Atoka County. He preceded her in death on April 8, 1997.

Survivors include two sons, Raymond Walthall and wife Melanie of Atoka and Michael Dwayne Walthall of McAlester; four daughters, Deloris Jean Moore, Mary Sue Ables and husband Ernest, all of Coalgate, Myra Ruth Walthall of Mustang, OK and La-joy Fern Reeves and husband Jay of Stringtown OK; grandchildren, Wesley, Becky, James, Phillip, Susan, Cindy, Scotty, Laure, Craig, Brian, Daniel, Sharron, Robert, Rayner, Janet, Marshall, Amy and Julie; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; twenty-one great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Ethel Louise Roberts; son, Glen Arnold Walthall; grandson, Stanley Todd Roberts; seven brothers, Fred Armstrong, Richard Armstrong, Jack Armstrong, Jon Thomas “Teet” Armstrong, Fletcher Armstrong, Otah Armstrong, and Lewis Armstrong; and two sisters, Mae Fisher and Gladys Holstine.

Active pallbearers will be Randy Isom, Jesse Moore, Justin Moore, Craig Ables, Riggin Moore, Rance Ables, Chris Hall, Rusty Allen and Brian Horner. Honorary bearers will be Jay Reeves, James Moore, Phillip Moore, Wesley Roberts, Scotty Ables, Robert Walthall, Rayner Walthall, Marshall Reeves, Daniel Horner and Cody Moore.
