Funeral services for Wilson “Bob” Felix Layton, a Coalgate resident, were held Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Bro. Eldon Hogue officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate.

Mr. Layton was born September 6, 1934 to Henry Milton and Eleanor (Felix) Layton at Leavenworth, KS and passed away at his home in Coalgate on January 2, 2024 at the age of 89 years, 3 months and 27 days. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Bob drove a cement truck for Roy Massey then Dolese. He married Mary “Pinky” Elizabeth McAusland May 27, 1978. They were blessed with 45 years together. Bob was baptized at the Harmony Baptist Church and was a member of the Coalgate VFW. He enjoyed tinkering with things, working on cars and anything with motors. He loved his grandchildren and all of his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Mary “Pinky” Elizabeth Layton of the home in Coalgate; children, Eddie Layton of Cottonwood, OK, Eva Layton of Coalgate, Kelly Low of Ada, Enessa Renteria and Erik Hawkins of Austin, TX, Barbara Wunschel and husband Ray of Heath Springs, SC, Kevin Standridge of Coalgate, Michelle Birchfield and husband Neil of Rattan, OK and Tanya Branam and husband Rick of Coalgate; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother, Eddie Allen Layton of Rushville, MO; sisters Peggy Jackson and husband Bob of Cushing, KS, Jeannie Albright, Mary Lee Davidson, both of Ft. Scott, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Milton and Eleanor (Felix) Layton; daughter, Beverly Layton; sons, Bobby Layton, Michael Standridge and Dean Standridge; grandson, Mason Gaylor; brothers, Milton ‘Buster” Layton, Tom Layton, James “Ollie” Layton and Roy Layton; and sisters, Nancy Shade and Emma Layton.
