Ronald Dean Linscott

Ronald Dean Linscott passed peacefully at his home in Atoka, OK on July 8, 2025 at the age of 66. Ron spent the vast majority of his life living and working in Atoka County.
He was born July 2, 1959 to Gordie Gene and Betty Lou (Weakley) Linscott. He attended Lane Public School and was a member of the Atoka High School class of 1977. He married the love of his life, Linda Jones Linscott, in Sherman, Texas. They had one son, Ethan Hight Linscott, and their marriage of more than 30 years lasted until Linda’s death in 2018.
He had a long career as the advertising manager of the Atoka County Times where he worked until his retirement in 2020. He especially enjoyed keeping close touch with the community through his weekly newspaper deliveries and was a familiar sight at numerous county businesses throughout Atoka County.
Ron had an unmatched passion for life. He loved jokes, games, and time spent with friends and family. During his long marriage, Ron and Linda enjoyed hosting parties, playing dominoes, and going on trips with loved ones. They loved the outdoors and spent most of the beautiful Oklahoma summers together at the lake or in the garden. Ron was a prolific gardener and grew ever growing vegetable gardens for more than 20 years. Ron is best remembered for his larger-thanlife personality and his cheeky sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Carol (Jones) Linscott, his father Gordie Gene Linscott, as well as father and mother in-laws Foster and Louise Cain.
He is survived by his son Ethan Hight Linscott and wife Saranah, his mother Betty Lou Bowles, his sisters Rhonda Almaguer and husband Avelino, sister Deborah Elaine Perkins, and sister Brenda Fleming and husband Jeff, and brother-in-law Mark Dale Cain, lifelong dear friends, David and Laura Durbin as well as numerous friends, colleagues, nieces, nephews and two beloved cats.
Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Jerry Williams, were held at 10:00 a.m. at Brown’s Funeral Chapel on July 13 followed by cremation. Pall bearers were: David Durbin, Dillon Durbin, Joe McClure, Robert Cousins, Robert Powell, and Jaimie Miller. Service Condolences may be sent to the family by email to browns@atoka.net.
