My friend, the late Charles Biggs was one of my favorite columnists. Not long before he passed away he wrote one of my favorites, which I wanted to share today… Someone sent me a copy of a letter to the editor written by Ken Huber of Tawas City, Michigan.

Think about is… Seriously If you think you are smarter than the previous generation… 50 years ago, the owner’s manual of a car showed you how to adjust the valves. Today, it warns you NOT to drink the contents of the battery.

Dayna and I spent the weekend attending the annual Oklahoma Press Association. It was an enjoyable and rewarding time. Dayna was one of the guest speakers on a panel of four, who shared ways newspapers can bring in alternative income, and was excellent.

Please share this letter I sent to the Chief of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma with your readers. I’m hoping more Choctaw members will contact their Council representatives and Chief Batton.

I probably should write more often about Allen’s rich history in Oklahoma. Last week I mentioned Allen’s role in the Green Corn Rebellion back in 1917. This rebellion fizzled out before it really got started after action taken by Pontotoc County sheriff Bob Duncan and 10 deputies.

Over time, the words of our loved ones remain etched forever in our minds. Some people pick profound epitaphs that sum up their lives on their tombstones, while others choose humorous epitaphs to keep visitors amused.
