ONE CANDIDATE FILES FOR COALGATE CITY COUNCIL

Coal County Election Board Secretary Amber Fanning advised Tuesday morning that Matthew Crow filed a Declaration of Candidacy for Ward 3 of the City of Coalgate Special Election.The special election is being called for November 18, 2025, due to the resignation of Ward 3 Councilman Joe Ward.

Lehigh man charged with child sexual abuse

Larry Don Sevier, 60, Lehigh, has been charged with child sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12. If convicted, he could spend 25 years to life in the state penitentiary plus a fine of $500 to $5,000.

Coalgate woman facing burglary and assault charges

Arianna Nicole Walton, 21, Coalgate, was charged September 19 with felony burglary in the first degree plus two misdemeanors - assault and battery and domestic abuse assault and battery. Burglary in the first degree carries a prison term of 7 to 20 years.
