Two candidates have filed Declarations of Candidacy for the Ward 3 seat of the Coalgate City Council. A special election was called for November 18 due to the resignation of Councilman Joe Ward.

Christopher Adam Dalinger, 45, Calvin, was fatally wounded in a two-vehicle accident in Hughes County on Saturday, October 11. The accident occurred at approximately 4:47 p.m. on U.S. Hwy. 75 and County Road E 1480. Dalinger was a 1999 graduate of Coalgate High School.

An arrest warrant was issued and felony charges filed September 23 for a Tupelo man charged with possession of a firearm after former conviction of a felony, unlawful possession of methamphetamine with intention to distribute, and unlawful possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
