One Pharmacist's View

The old Bar-X Ranch just southwest of Jesse (which is about 7 miles south of Stonewall) had some beautiful hills and clear streams of water typical in the Washita Mountains.

Older brothers are real handy if you need scientific information about things. Anything at all. The end of the world was something I worried about when I was a first grader. After all, it was the topic of most sermons that we were bombarded with back then. Especially over at the Holiness Church.

I have seen “church going” change a lot in my years of attendance. I had training on Goat Ridge at a church named Panola that had served as a school house for many years. But the little school house had become empty. Deserted and dark.

President Trump really fired up Democrat liberals this week. He told Alexandria Cortez (D-NY) that if she didn’t like America she should just go back to where she come from.

The drought is over. It has now rained enough everywhere that the USA is soaked. Lakes are filled and yes--I’ve had enough. It was raining about everywhere on my recent road trip to Miami, Florida and points in between. In between rains it was very hot.

I remember one nice day in Oklahoma 70 years ago volunteering to drive my grandfather, Will W. Armstrong, down to Wister for a visit with his daughter. I was the only one handy that day and besides, being a teenager with a new driver’s license, I looked forward to the trip.

I used to enjoy (to a lesser extent) reading George Will. Will, a very verbose speaker and writer of our times, is sometimes a hard read, at least for me. His uncommon use of words and verbiage to make a point or two sometimes leaves me not just puzzled but amazed.

My older brother Gerald — the one who was something of a pest in my early life — is now living out his life up in Northwestern Wyoming. I go to visit him once in a while and we always have a lot of good times remembering our times growing up in Allen, Centrahoma and Stonewall.

A few years ago in Toronto, Canada I was detained for about 30 minutes while “trained” agents went through my carry on searching for whatever. The center of their interest focused on my camera bag which contained a bunch of those little 35mm film cans.
