GAVIN BLUE HEADED TO COUGAR COUNTRY — Coalgate HS 2022 graduating senior Gavin Blue signs a letter of intent on May 11 with Redlands Community College in El Reno, OK, where he will join the Cougar baseball team.

The 1962 Coalgate High School football team — which was the outstanding team since the undefeated team of 1956 — is being recognized for their season record of nine wins, two losses and a tie.

TREY WILKINSON SIGNS WITH CARL ALBERT — Coalgate senior Trey Wilkinson signed a letter of intent on March 30 with Carl Albert State College in Poteau, OK where he will become a member of the Vikings baseball team.

With Braedy Wardrope on the mound, Coalgate shuts out Caney. Braedy didn’t allow a single run against Caney, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Coalgate Wildcats Varsity to a 5-0 victory.

Not to be upstaged, the 1972-73 Coalgate boys’ basketball team will soon be inducted into the Coalgate Hall of Fame, as did the Wildcat football team a couple of years ago. Both teams made it to the state semi-finals before ending their seasons.

These two ladies, happily holding the district plaque, helped the Tupelo Lady Tigers to a 18-4 win over Coleman in the district finals. Carli Cox hit two homeruns in that game and Kylee Watson hit one, a grand slam.

In the district game 2, freshman pitcher, Zane Wilkerson, took the win on the mound for Tupelo, 20-1, pitching 3 innings and throwing 5 strikeouts. Offensively, Zane had 2 hits and 3 RBIs. Junior, Cody Airington, backed him up at shortstop.
